SERIES: THE FIELD
The series “The Field” is a series of still lifes in progress that will continue to develop over time. The name of the series refers to the place where I grew up: the countryside of my parents and grandparents. The concept emerged after my decision to move permanently from Argentina to Italy. In this series, the work narrates the connection between our memory, nostalgic recollections, and imagination, and the curious interdependence between them. By examining the fleeting nature of childhood, I explore a cognitive confusion in which perceiving the future can be as vivid as remembering it.
The work is constructed as fragments of memories resurface, giving rise to a language of compositions and color combinations. Familiar motifs such as my grandmother’s garden, nights spent in the countryside playing dominoes or cards, the mud pies I made while playing, my mother’s lipsticks or the high heels I secretly wore, the table where the family gathered, windmills, agricultural labor, animals, sunflowers, rural roads, wildflowers, the water reservoir, trees, and birds carry a nostalgic resonance that recreates a narrative of the past in the present. The craftsmanship of the work explores a deeper perception of vitality and abundance, with the generative forces of nature emerging through the sporadic sampling of patterns across diverse materials. The natural cycles of growth are reflected in the work through dense acrylic textures that evoke respect for honest labor and ingenuity. The work is a rich reflection of my personal history and culture, encapsulated through a vision of everyday life.
